Members DAK403 Posted March 21, 2014 Members Posted March 21, 2014 Hi Guys. First post for me. I really enjoy your site. I have got a lot of helpful tips over the years. I live in Iowa and come down to the Rock in August with the family and really love the lake! A buddy and I are coming down late next week for our first Spring trip and I am really looking forward to it! I was wanting to get into some Smallmouth and was wondering what the best area of the lake holds the most Smallmouth. We are staying in Kimberling City.
dtrs5kprs Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 They will have you surrounded. Joe Bald to the dam, more or less. You could certainly add Baxter to the search area. Likely still a little cold, but they should start moving to gravel soon.

Find those transition from chunk to gravel banks and secondary points with gravel (wood on them helps) and you will find those brownies all around KC to the dam. I would tell you a guaranteed spot to snag a good one but I myself will be down there next week and don't want people hogging my spot. I am sure it is going to be a battle just to find a spot next week with all the cabin fever guys (me) and the pre-fishing stuff going on for the BASS Elite the following weekend.
Members DAK403 Posted March 21, 2014 Author Members Posted March 21, 2014 Thanks Guys! Cabin fever is right. Our lakes up here have 30in of ice on them! I can't wait to get on some open water. I will be running around in a white Procraft 200c. If you see me stop by and say hi.
