JamiePatterson Posted March 22, 2014 Posted March 22, 2014 Are waders needed? How wide is the creek? Am thinking about taking my kiddos -Clay has inspired me. Can I get a small child near the action without getting her soaked?
sfiser Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Waders arent needed. There is a boardwalk that goes right down a good chunk of the creek. It's a small creek, 20 or sofeet across most places

budman Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Here are a couple of pictures of Dry Run Creek that I took last fall. There are board walks you can fish from or you can go up stream and fish from the bank. There were a few kids fishing the day we visited the hatchery and creek. Great to see this creek, reminded me of Oak Creek outside of Sedona, Az.

My girls 3 and 2 had a great time, no waders, no incidents, great time. JamiePatterson Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 We gave it a go over the weekend... No luck. The flow was to much for my oldest, "fisher in the making" to handle. She did, however, have a blast picking up twigs and acorns from the ramp/deck lol. Took the girls and momma over to the norfork's confluence with the white and let em catch a few rainbows and got some cute video. Good times Clay, I lost your number when my phone crashed and then, like a dummy, didn't save it when you called me last month. It was some farming disaster that caused me to have to get off the phone quickly and then I forgot to store your info. Text it to me I'd ya don't mind. We should get together some time and leave some fish with sore lips
BFTMASTER Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 I can't wait to take my boys (2 & 4) to DRC, but it looks a little unforgiving for a young one with a fly rod. I might need to get something a little less than my sage or winston for them to learn with.
ruthead Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 any tips out there for a 14 yr old pretty good fly fisherman's first trip to Dry Run? He and I r both chompin at the bit to go but won't be till first of June. "Pretty soon we may not have any rights left because it might infringe on someone's rights"
