Members FrozenFingers Posted March 30, 2014 Members Posted March 30, 2014 Ive never been to taylors bridge and was wondeing if it would be a good place to kayak and fish? Not sure how the water usually flows down there. Any advice would be helpful.
Members FrozenFingers Posted March 30, 2014 Author Members Posted March 30, 2014 I think im going to head down there tommorro morning any suggestions on what to use?
Wayne SW/MO Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 How are you fishing? White Roostertail or white or chartreuse Clouser? Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
Members Butthead Posted March 30, 2014 Members Posted March 30, 2014 For white bass with a spinning outfit, I like 1/32 oz. jig heads with white paddle-tail plastic "fish" bodies and 4 lb. fluorocarbon or an 1/8 oz. roadrunner with and without a minnow - after a few casts you lose your minnow anyway. With a 5 wt. fly rod, I like white zonkers on a 6 or 8 hook. Never have used a Clouser on white bass but seems like that would also work well.
Members Rick Baker Posted March 31, 2014 Members Posted March 31, 2014 I like kayaking around Taylor's and Orleans. Some nice person dug a ditch out at Orleans in the mud and you can run your kayak up in it and get out without getting your feet wet. Has the bite gotten better yet?
Members FrozenFingers Posted March 31, 2014 Author Members Posted March 31, 2014 Thanks for all the info. Im going up Tuesday and i let you guys know how the bite is assuming im using the right stuff.
Members Derka21 Posted March 31, 2014 Members Posted March 31, 2014 I went today for like 4 hours caught all little ones so they havent started yet
Members Rick Baker Posted March 31, 2014 Members Posted March 31, 2014 Depending on the weather, might see you down there frozenfingers. I will be the only 320pounder in a bright green ride 115.
Bitethis Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 4lb flouro might be a little light if you tie into some sows....just my 2c. I would use 6-8lb flouro on whites, as a minimum. 4lb line would work on crappie just fine, but I have lost numerous whites on 4lb line. Just last week I caught 12 white bass on Flat Creek and 15" was the smallest one I caught, rest were between 16-18". Boat next to me was using 6lb line and was breaking off every 3rd fish. Best of luck! It is supposed to rain a lot this week, so if you go Tuesday, should be good! If you decide to wait until later in the week, I would proceed with extreme caution, that river can rage after a good rain. Last year we had plenty of rain, and decided to go the day after....bad idea. 40hp motor full throttle just to move a little bit. Trolling motor was pointless....so be careful!
