Members uofastudent Posted April 1, 2014 Members Posted April 1, 2014 I saw some people fishing the tailwater of sequoyah right below the dam. I assume they were fishing for walleye. Can anyone shed some light on how this is done, baits used, ect?
Hojo Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I hooked something there a few years ago on a small crank bait. Stripped drag like a tarpon. I chased it down river a hundred yards or so until it finally broke me off. Too much for my little spinning tackle to handle. Never saw the fish but it gave me a helluva ride. No clue what it was.
Feathers and Fins Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 That area right now probably spoonbills https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
marcusearlt Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 Lots of people fish right below the dam there at Sequoyah. It can be hit or miss. People are most likely trying to target walleye or whites when the move up the in the spring. For the rest of the year all I've ever seen down there is gar, carp, and some sunfish. If you plan on fishing it you must pay just as if you were fishing in the lake. The guy that operates the bait store at the lake is named Mike. He keeps a close eye on things down there so be sure to stop by and get your pass. He is usually good for the latest fishing report too. jdelow77 Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 You can catch walleye down there , it might be good right now ! I've seen people catch them on jigs and minnows , we use go wade down there when we were younger , it's an Eire place , watch out for snakes ...
