Laker I don't know where the problem is either with money handling. But I do know just sitting around complaining about it is useless without coming up with ideas to possibly fix it.

I know without a doubt that this all can be fixed in a short period if the right people and tools are put in place. Sometimes heads need to roll. If the people in charge of the people that are failing aren't aware of the problems they may need replacing as well. The problem here is that you have people that don't live in the risk and reward life. When you get money from a source that is already allotted you have no clue what risk even is. Like any other government owned or state owned entity they haven't a clue of what it takes to run a successful business.

If they had to run the hatchery operation on a business type model they would put out a better product. But when your paycheck is set in stone you don't have to produce in their situation.

Somebody needs to be replaced if they can't get it done. Plain and simple.

I will be at the meeting in June. As soon as I find out the date from Corky, I will post. If anyone else hears, let us know.

The BIG question is "why did they change the way they dispense fish?"

They went from using gauged baskets that allowed the smaller units out and kept the correct size in, to weighing everything that is in the pool regardless of the size. Just walk over when they are getting ready to pull fish for the trucks. You will see a variety of different size fish.

I say again that a hog, cattle, sheep or anyother livestock farmer would not take a small unit to market. He culls out the runts and tries to put weight on them and get them up to standards. If he has to keep them a little longer he does. The current manager isn't doing that.

So again I ask the question "why did they change the way the dispense fish?" What benefit does it have? It obviously cost them a good chunk of $$$ to get that operation going. New boom truck, scales etc. I seriously doubt that they laid anyone off to off set the increase in startup and operating costs.

No Luck if you go to the meeting ask them that question. Why did they change?

Pat,

Wish I could go but sometimes family is more important. Grandmaw is 97 and can't get around much so I do here grocery shopping and banking. It's the least I can do.We'll hook up at a later time. Knock off a few cold ones for me. Enjoy the new camper. Keep Danny away from the fire. Save some fish for next time.

The MDC meeting that I spoke of earlier in this topic is scheduled. June 16, 6:30 pm, at the Bennett Room. The Bennett Room is located at the old gaston fly shop building. This is open to the public as of right now.

Wish I could make that meeting but I am supposed to be in Wisconsin on that date I am pretty sure. I just hope that the people that frequent Bennett regularly are represented instead of the once a year trippers. But even they should be heard from as well.

The funny thing is that I can almost see it in my mind how it is going to go down. If you go laker let us know how and what was discussed.
