Members James Coonrod Posted April 8, 2014 Members Posted April 8, 2014 Myself and my dad crappie fished from noon to 7 yesterday. We hit about 5 spots from Virgin Bluff to just south of Ashercane. Most locations we would pickup 1 or 2 keepers quick then they quit, best was just south of Ashercane, not many shorts except for one lay down where we probably caught 20 6-8 inchers. We had to come back and repeat at some locations and we would pickup a few more. Caught them on clear and blue flake swimming minnows, ans several on chartreuse yum twister tail. It didn't really matter if it was 1/8 or 1/16 ounce head. Water temps from 49 to 59 up at Ashercane. Ended with 19 keepers, biggest was 14". Great to spend the day with dad fishing the Rock.
Sac River Jim Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 thnx for a good report and theres nothing better than to fish with your Dad I spent many hours on the water with mine over the years. This time of year I miss him more than ever he loved to catch those whites and crappies at ashers and taylor shoals.
duckydoty Posted April 8, 2014 Posted April 8, 2014 Great report. Pretty much had the same results yesterday. Picked up a couple keepers at each brush pile then had to move on. Thanks for sharing. i thought about switching to 1/8 oz. jig several times yesterday when the wind was blowing, but stayed with 1/16. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!!
