captmac Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 What type of pfd do you use and how often ? To have a true friend is wonderful, to have a true friend who fishes with you....... priceless
rps Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I wear one at all times in the boat. summer - sterns inflatable vest winter - traditional sterns vest
Al Agnew Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 I have pretty decent ones, made for paddling, for the canoes. Cheap ones for the jetboat. I hardly ever wear one in warm weather/warm water conditions; the only time I would then is if the river is high. The rest of the time it's used at padding on my seat back in the canoe. But in cool to cold water and weather I wear it. In Montana I seldom wear one in the raft, but wear one most of the time in my Water Master personal raft. Only time I might not is late summer when the water temps are up in the high 60s, the river is low, and the weather is hot.
Ham Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 I wear a PFD anytime the big motor is running in the Bass Cat. I seldom wear it on the White which is a mistake. I need to change that behavior. I wear PFD in higher water or cooler water in the yak or if I'm swimming to retrieve a lure. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
RSBreth Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I've started wearing it when on the water - period. Regular Bass Pro XPS vest. It's a little hot when paddling in summer but it's hard to tell your son to "always wear your PFD" when you don't do as you say.
ozarkgunner Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 I wear my inflatable all the time now. I use to only use it with the big motor but now I'm 100 percent of the time. I had a guy fall in while fishing this November and it changed the way I feel. Angler At Law
jeb Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I wear a Mustang inflatable with their HIT system. I wear it 100% of the time I'm fishing, all year round. Very comfortable vest. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
