Members muzz Posted April 24, 2014 Members Posted April 24, 2014 I Live In Lamar and Our Church Is Wanting To Go On A Float Trip. Fishing Camping And Just To Float. We Usually Go To Jack Forks But It's A Long Drive. Anyone Know Of A Closer Place To Go That's Just As Good? ?
darbwa Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Wow! You have so many options that are even closer than the Jacks Fork I am not sure where to begin. You might start with this map http://missouricanoe.org/statemap.html It shows some of your options in Missouri. Additionally you might consider the Kings River or the Buffalo River in Arkansas.
Members muzz Posted April 24, 2014 Author Members Posted April 24, 2014 We Really Like A Place With Not Very Many If Any Drunks At All. We Tried Noel Once But It Had So Many On It. I Know We Won't Find A Place That Is Totally Free Of Them But The Less The Better
ollie Posted April 25, 2014 Posted April 25, 2014 Well, I was going to suggest a couple of rivers, but they have drunks on them most of the time during summer. Elk and Big Sugar. Shoal creek above Tipton Ford isn't so bad in the summer. They don't get the pressure like they do downstream where Zans is. ScottK Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I was pleasantly surprised by the James river for something close to home.
Justin Spencer Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 The closer to the big cities the crazier the crowds, an extra hour or two of driving is a small price to pay to not have your weekend ruined by drunks. I'm biased, but the NFoW, has some of the best, most consistent water in the Ozarks.
