Gavin Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Still a canoe fan but the native is not bad. Harder to turn than my solo canoe and it weighs quite a bit more. Think that boat weighs 70 or so . Not too bad for car topping, pretty good in terms of comfort.
Bill B. Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Closed, in the sense that they are going out of business and are not adding new inventory. At least, that's my understanding. I don't think they have the FX in stock. According to their website, they have very little inventory left.
ness Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I dunno -- just saw what they said on the website. John
GloryDaze Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 I've received a few of their emails... first said they were closing. The last one I got said they were staying open but limited hours. Honestly don't now what their status is. Stinks because I bought my last 2 boats from them and it was nice having a non box store with a decent selection nearby. Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory
ness Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 It used to be a hopping place when they were in the River Market area. I bought my canoe there. I stopped by their Belton location on a weekday a couple years ago and the guy didn't even have the lights on in the store until I went in. John
woodman Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 You guys and your "Tupperware Boats" It is so simple to build a Stitch and Glue boat, something to be proud of that you built yourself......I just dont get it ...Why people gravitate towards "Heavy kayaks" anything over 40 lbs......Heck I even offered to teach and have a workshop for FREE...with NO response....GO to CLC website and you will see women building them in their apartment!... .......What no one owns a jig saw, a drill, little hand sander? what..... http://s147.photobucket.com/albums/r302/scrawford_photos/
rps Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 ouch! Woodman, cut us some slack. We are intimidated.
Al Agnew Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 It's all a matter of time with me. I'd rather be fishing than building boats in the free time I have. No doubt those wood boats are beautiful, though, and you've got me convinced they are practical as well.
XP 590 Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 Woodman, don't sell yourself short, it can't be that easy. You are a master craftsman! Besides, Tupperware seals in the extra freshness! Me trying to build something wooden, with my limited skills is like watching "a monkey humping a football", if you've ever heard that phrase. Thanks for offering to share your talent, I hope people do take you up on it.
