BATCAB27 Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Put in at Bridgeport 7:00pm last evening and headed to bear den. Boy it was windy, we were the only boat there. Caught 10 keeper crappie all males but 1, most right on the bank. 1/16 oz chartruse jigs. When the sun went down the fish shut off. Do spawning crappie not bite at night? Do they move off the bank? We were pulling em in pretty good then boom...not a nibble after dark.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 29, 2014 Root Admin Posted April 29, 2014 Last week we caught them till 10 pm. And they were still biting when we left. But they weren't on the bank. We'll off it.
balsabee Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Where are all the females? Lots and lots of males on the bank right now. Caught 78 keeper crappie in the past three weeks and out of all those maybe 10 were females. Their eggs look like they are ready to spawn.
duckydoty Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 I caught the big females in 15-16 fow last week. They were full of eggs. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
balsabee Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 I fished out in that depth as well. Still was catching all males. Females have to be making the move very soon.
