Members Luckyj Posted May 9, 2014 Author Members Posted May 9, 2014 Are you guys using any weight on your lines with live bait or the artificals? Or just using the barrel swivel, bead and a hook? I do not have a down rigger so trying to figure out how to get the live bait down. I was thinking a barrel weight ahead of the swivel???? I know the flicker will go down on its own but are you using additional weights?
1969Larson Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Right now no weight. When you want to get deeper you can use a barrel weight where your "leader" starts.
Feathers and Fins Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Freeline one bait small split shot the other, The one that produces set the second up that way... But always have a bait pinned on a hook resting in the livewell incase of immediate need. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Members Luckyj Posted May 9, 2014 Author Members Posted May 9, 2014 Awesome idea!!!!!!!!! I went a few days ago to WM and to Cabela's before I knew about the pearl white and avocado colors, bought 4 of them, 2 in the #5 and 2 in the #7 in what I thought would be colors that would work around here based on past history with the lake. Then you guys posted about the pearl white and avocado colors. And I was like darn now I gotta go buy the colors that is working! So I went to HLS this morning could only find ONE #5 pearl white and a #6 and #7 in pearl white, bought all 3 of those. Got home and getting my rods ready to go and was wondering if I should return the other flickers I bought so reached in the tackle box to get them out and I had bought all 4 of them in pearl white!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO So I guess I am set for a while on pearl white. LOL As an added bonus t did boost my confidence in knowing the colors needed to use on this lake LOL However, like I have said before, Bass I know, its the other critters I have to learn about LOL So gonna go out and try these planer boards tomorrow along with the new flickers and gonna try some live bait and hope to catch my own shad LOL We will see what tomorrow brings. I just hope for a scale or 2 is all I am asking LOL Worst case is I get some fresh air! LOL
J-Doc Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 You could lose all 4 of those Pearl Whites in one trip. :-) Once they grab something, it's really not worth going back after it. I rarely get one back and I have tried like crazy with a good bait retriever. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!!
