Jerry, how lucky are you, congratulations! My wife and I call your experience at work "here's your sign" (as Bill Engvall would say). Karen has been having her "here's your sign" moments for several years. They just get more frequent, so she is done this school year as well!

Getting back to your question. Like Rich said unless you have to have water and sewer I love CG5. There is more space between spots for the most part. If you can get in the first loop on the right you are near water. My favorite is 506, it is right next to water. However 507-509 are ok as well. Or if you get all the way to the south loop my favorite down there is 531. You have to travel a ways for the pooper but I take my bike with me and hall a@#.

If you go during the week I would guarentee you a spot in 5. Only had to wait in line 1 time in all the years I've been going. That was when a holiday was coming. Really shouldn't have been there in the first place.

You can get a spot in the other CG's however you are at the mercy of the reserved people.

BTW if time is not an issue don't forget Montauk!!! Fish up near the springs, reminds me of Idaho!

Actually CG 1 is all 50/30 Amp sites and CG 4 has one 50 Amp site (428 use to be the host).

I think the biggest problem will be to coax the "shaggin wagon" to pull the PUP up the hill!!

Thanks so much for the info, Pat. I've been getting the Pup ready today and took a nice trip to Camping World east of Kansas City to give them some money. Main reason was to get a BAL leveler I hear so much about. I will follow your suggestion on the sites. I am so friggin ready to go! 4 more working days. I hope we can all get together sometime this summer.

Jerry,

I'm planning on being down on August 20-25th. That has been our yearly vacation when we originally started the get together.

Maybe we can all get together then and live it up a little.

WOW sounds fantastic. I always wanted to build a bamboo rod. I think you can take a class some place.

Since tomorrow is my last day working I was planning on heading down next week but the weather looks pretty crummy.

I might wait a week.

Building a rod has always interested me but I'm too impatient now days. Bill Oyster did a class at one time I know. He builds some of the finest cane rods available. But again you would have to to be retired or something to be able to do that. Hint hint!!

I didn't have time so I researched rods and came up with Sweetgrass rods. It has an unconditional lifetime warranty which is a huge plus for me. Charlie Reading had his expo Memorial Day weekend and they had some nice stuff there. I was talking to one of the factory reps there and mentioned I was interested in a Sweetgrass rod and he told me that they had a table there with a couple to try out. Long story short I bought a rod and a Hardy Bougle' reel. The rod I bought had some upgrades from a standard Mantra series rod which made it a very nice rod over a standard Mantra rod. Plus they sold it as a demo for cheaper than a standard rod. All in all I came away with a really good deal on a better rod than I was going to buy anyway in a few months.

I fished it the rest of the holiday weekending and it's a blast to fish. I won't give up my other rods but the bamboo rod will get fished quite a bit in the future. You're more than welcome when we get together down there to give it a test drive.

Sounds like a freat deal. I assume they are slower and requires you to slow your stroke down.

Yeah a little slower than my BIIT's. but you don't sacrifice much really. The only thing I've felt lacking is hook set a longer distances. But I contribute that mostly to being 7' long.

Hoping to head down this week. I'm still freaking out thinking I don't have to go to work. I'll head to campground 5. Thanks to all for the help.
