Bird Watcher Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 the taste! I love the way LM Bass taste! Better than crappie, IMO.
powerdive Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Gee, it sure is fun wading through bazillions of runt bass while trying to fish for other species on Table Rock. I consider it irresponsible for bass fishermen to release every single bass they catch; their hearts are in the right place, but their heads are somewhere else entirely. Perhaps they should question their unwritten rules once in awhile. Bass are NOT stocked; they reproduce naturally, and prolifically (since they're related to panfish). The conservation regs are set to accommodate selective harvest; 100% release degrades the fishery by upsetting the balance. Prepared properly, bass taste just fine--oh, the horror! Total release is nothing more than a good idea taken too far; selective harvest is far more reasonable, and would help the fishery. Just my two cents. By the way, good job, Dirtracer35!

Dirtracer35 Posted May 12, 2014 Author Posted May 12, 2014 I think I should just give up fishing. Lol. Maybe.
mjk86 Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Bass taste just fine....I always keep a mess of spots when im at table rock....would I rather eat a walleye? Yes of course....but there are lots more 15" spots than there are 18" wallys on that lake. It could be worse...he could have eaten catfish. Harvesting some "legal" bass isnt hurting anything....I (and most everyone else) keep every legal walleye I catch on stockton up to my limit....hence the word limit...you get 4. Dont tell the smallmouth forum (for fear of death threats)...but I think your legally allowed to keep a few of them too.
9LB Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 YES IT WAS, The Walleyes were biting as good as the Bass. Nice stringer, I also would prefer to see 6 smaller one's vs a few chunky spawning bass but I think your 90 something gramma has earned a fish fry !
Members CrappieCole Posted May 12, 2014 Members Posted May 12, 2014 Bass ain't as good as crappie or walleye but I think it's pretty good. I keep some every time I catch them. Nothing wrong with keepin fish to eat if you spent the time to go out and fish. Bass fisherman are somethin else lol
