npierceuark Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Got out around 5pm sat evening and started the search for crappie. Marked a couple schools over brush in 15-20 fow and dropped down a minnow to try and pick em off. Immediate strike and up comes a chunky 14" kentucky, next cast a 13", this trend continued until i burnt through a dozen minnows and the fish kept shrinking down to the final, puny 5 incher. Switched over to a shaky head and finesse worm and proceeded to catch bass from the bank to 12 fow. No monsters but entertaining. The sun set and I turned the lights on but as off 9pm had not caught one crappie. Getting frustrated I switched to artificials and started jigging, first cast nice chunky white. Continued catching fish on a 2" baby shad fished from the bottom up to 10' in 20 fow. I found all the crappie to be within 2' of the bottom while the whites and one walleye were suspended around the 10-12' mark. Ended around 11:30 with a nice cooler full of whites and crappie.
J-Doc Posted May 12, 2014 Posted May 12, 2014 Awesome! That's a nice view right there. I knew the old "crappie whisperer" could fill a limit! Glad to see you're getting out on the water in the duck boat. Sounds like you got a graph on it too. Good deal! Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
