conman Posted May 13, 2014 Posted May 13, 2014 So I accidentally caught a walleye when I was Bass fishing this weekend. My wife and I stayed on the same bank and proceeded to get 8 keepers with the biggest ones around 3.8 lbs. I was throwing a jerkbait in a good spawn cove. I would love to know more about catching them on a more consistant basis. Do walleye naturally reproduce at Pomme? Is this their spawn time? With the clear water now I was amazed how many other walleye follows I had.
Members walleyehunter66 Posted May 13, 2014 Members Posted May 13, 2014 They have been stocking walleye in pomme for several years, i'm not sure how often, but i have been catching walleye at pomme for several years, and have caught some nice ones, the largest i ever caught was 26 inch, but my girlfriend and i usually catch several every summer, we troll crankbaits on the flats in june and july
MOPanfisher Posted May 14, 2014 Posted May 14, 2014 There are no Walleye in Pomme, stop posting things like this. Walleye spawn much earlier than crappie, this time of year is post spawn, windy points and bright colored crankbaits seem to be a good combo. ummmm IF there were any in Pomme.
Members MT Custom Outfitters Posted June 11, 2014 Members Posted June 11, 2014 If you were to fish for these non existing fish the end of June or early July where might you find them then and where might you launch a boat? We have never been to Pomme MT Custom Outfitters Visit us at: www.mtcustomoutfitters.com
fishbait3 Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 i would say around the darn and fish martin flats. or any wind blown banks
MOPanfisher Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 I would target the windy banks and windy points with some shallow water that drops off to deeper near by, many troll the flats and the same point areas, I like to cast for them, that way when a musky takes my crank bait away from me sometimes I at least get to see him. Pomme doesn't get the regular stockings we however are at the top of the list for "left overs" meaning that when they hatcheries have more fish than is needed we get first shot at them, the MDC guys have done a great job of getting Pomme a good viable population of walleye. Personally I like the mid to upper lake areas from Wheatland to Bolivar but I usually hit them from mid april to mid june before the water warms up too much. Didn't get to do much of it this year though. I keep hearing reports of them being caught though.
