Members Scudz Rule Posted May 13, 2014 Members Posted May 13, 2014 If I remember correctly it used to be around this time of year. Thank you very much.
Members Dan Schaefer Posted May 15, 2014 Members Posted May 15, 2014 The brown's have been stocked. A friend and I floated and fished from Baptist Camp to Cedar Grove on Monday. All we caught the whole trip was small browns. I believe they stocked 36,000 8in browns. Jadwin Canoe gave me the info.
jdmidwest Posted May 16, 2014 Posted May 16, 2014 They usually do it in March or April if the river permits. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

According to the fish survey on the MDC they schocked a 27.5 inch brown last fall and last spring they stocked 7000 brown trout in the Blue Ribbon section.
ozark trout fisher Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Yeah, 36K is an awful lot (about 4000/mile in the blue ribbon). If that figure is accurate the next year will be spent picking baby brown trout off the hook.
jdmidwest Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 I was thinking it used to be about 1K per mile for the 8 mile trophy area from Montauk to Cedargrove. That is about 8 miles if memory serves, so 8000 sounds about right. But I spend so little time up there anymore, there is no telling what they do now. Gavin Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 8k is the norm. 27.5" is believable, but anything over 20 has been a rare catch lately. If they dropped 32k. Fishing will be grand in. 3/4 years.
