conorsixtakc Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 Usually my favorite time to fish for them! Did very well on blues this time last year, although benchmarking based on what and when last year hasn't exactly panned out this year (as everybody already knows). Has anybody been catching blues or flatheads lately?
Members Kylekcmo Posted May 19, 2014 Members Posted May 19, 2014 I have mainly been going for crappie my last couple trips. I am going down this weekend also and think I will put out the trot line and try to stock up on some catfish. Lets hope they are on and we catch a boat load!!
Seth Posted May 19, 2014 Posted May 19, 2014 The blues are biting well up the Osage on shallow mud flats this past weekend. Finding fresh shad was the hard part! We only got a few shad and they didn't last long fishing a 15 foot mud flat a few miles down from the highway 65 bridge near Warsaw.

I just heard the same from my buddy who spent last weekend up there @ 88mm. He said the majority of blues were suspending, and that rod & reel was challenging but they cleaned up on jugs. I'm at the opposite end of the lake closer to Bagnell, so I'm still going to give rod & reel a go this weekend.
Seth Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 The other guys I talked to were slaying them in less than 3-8' of water. We should have been fishing even shallower I guess. One guy caught 21 Saturday including a 71 pound monster.

MOsmallies Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 That is an unreal specimen for LOZ... Thanks for sharing Seth
navery Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 I know the guy. His name is Chris. You would be surprised how many big ones are caught like that up that way. I have personally caught multiple 40 lbers. Don't get me wrong, over sixty is a little more rare, but not unheard of. Still a very nice fish either way.
Members sitting fishing Posted June 4, 2014 Members Posted June 4, 2014 Good. Night. that dog will hunt nice fish, congrats
