inshore Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 instead of tr fished Stockton past two weeks. caught 40 to 50 lm & sm both days. saw a total of one (1) speedboat over the two days and hardly anyone bass fishing. that was really nice.
Champ188 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Haven't been to Stockton in a couple of years but I've noticed the same thing up there, although the dam area seems to have a fair amount of pleasure boat traffic. There are plenty of sailboats, but they don't bother anyone.

What are you talking about? I fish stockton twice a week...there are TONS of Ski boats, tubers, Pontoon partys, leisure boaters, and other misc. traffic. I can hardly hear myself think when I go to stockton...Table Rock is MUCH more quiet, calm, peaceful, and has MUCH lower traffic. I hear there is hardly anyone every fishing within a few miles of Point 15. If you want peaceful fishing, definitely dont go to stockton...
mjk86 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 I love the sailboats on the lower end....they look so nice against the water with the dam in the horizon. They are def not aggravating like the speedboats/jet skis.
inshore Posted May 30, 2014 Author Posted May 30, 2014 bitethis you made a wrong turn and was fishing LOZ maybe. you got to love Stockton in the summertime don't you agree?
Champ188 Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 Saw the best sailboat name of all times a few years back at Stockton .... Blow Me

Members MOhawghunter417 Posted May 31, 2014 Members Posted May 31, 2014 I have spent the last three weekends on TR and I have to say that last weekend, which was Memorial weekend I fished the mouth of the James area to KC area and I have never seen as many big pleasure boats and off shore big boats. I really wish I had went to Stockton. I know the main lake up there can get rough due to wind but it can't hold a candle to TR as far as party boats, jet skies and house boats. Btw where are the surfacing whites at? I fished from 7:00 pm until midnight and back out at 6:00 am til 11:00 am. Best fishing for numbers was at night but bigger fish in mornings. All caught on jigs, shaky heads and plastics in 10'-20' of water. Best fish was a 3.7 lb LM caught at 10:00 am don't think we had more than 5 K's all weekend. Most was LM and Small Jaws. Average trip we would boat 15-20 bass per outing. Not the best but I have seen worse.
Unimog Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I hate to say it but trl is getting to be like loz. I don't blame people but it gets old fast. It's really bad in the summer when I'm fishing offshore on the main lake with boats going right over your lures.
blue79 Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 Stockton is great if you get 2-3 coves away from the marinas.
