6/3 Bass Report

We started the morning up near the dam before taking out, grabbing a bite and putting back in at Roark to fish until about 7:30. It was a beautiful day with water (fairly clear up near the dam) in the high 70s. The fish seemed to be stacked on the rocky, gradual flats 30+ yards off main lake points as well around submerged tree. In total, the three of us pulled in roughly 75-80 bass, with two walleye. While we didn't land any hogs, the vast majority of the fish were in the 12-14" range, which are simply a blast to catch. As a side note, I have never seen smallmouth as dark as they were on Tuesday!

As for lures, I was so impressed with the Rage Tail menace grub, I went out and bought a pack of the Rage Tail Cut-R worms, which look like a Senko with the a single signature rage tail. It flat out killed! (and I ran out by day's end)

Here's a little lure rundown, with the majority of the fish caught on soft plastics and jigs: (nothing new here for Stockton)

- yellow magic popper

- Bill Dance signature popper

- black buzz bait

- white and chartreuse chatter bait

- black and blue jig w/trailer

- Rage Tail Menace grub, watermelon red and a blue smokey color

- Rage Tail Cut-R, hard candy - texas rigged (two walleye on this one)

- Senko (or your favorite brand), green pumpkin - split shot/carolina rigged

- shakey head, watermelon red - on shaky head standup jig

Hinged jig heads. I was using the 1/4oz Arkie brand (available at Walmart for $1.97/3) and my father was using the slightly larger biffle bug football heads. I never fished with these little jigs (or the menace) until Davis tore it up on Tablerock. While the Rage Tail stuff isn't terribly tough, it works very, very well!

Thanks! I think I've got a few biffle heads, but may try texas rigging if I run out when I'm down next weekend. I'll let you know how I do!

thnx for a good report sixstring. yep i got a few pks of the arkie u heads in a bulk buy the other day and they work pretty well. i rigged them with a havoc craw fatty in watermelon candy and did pretty good nothing over 16'' but it was still alot of fun on lighter tackle. threw a 1/4oz arkie jerkie head w/a trick worm too.

I feel like the wobble head works a lot better dragging through the rocks than a t-rig. I also like dragging these baits on a jih head, no skirt or a big stand up head like the pumpkin ed. Great report!

thnx for a good report sixstring. yep i got a few pks of the arkie u heads in a bulk buy the other day and they work pretty well. i rigged them with a havoc craw fatty in watermelon candy and did pretty good nothing over 16'' but it was still alot of fun on lighter tackle. threw a 1/4oz arkie jerkie head w/a trick worm too.

I forgot to add we also used a black/blue havoc beaver tail type bait (I can't remember the name) on the same heads.

Another addition: My dad did start killing them later in the day with a whacky rigged (small jig head perpendicular through the center) senko type bait. He would cast it, bounce it a bit and BOOM!
