Stan at the cape fair marina posted a report on facebook this morning i cut and pasted it for you.

Wow, its been a while since I've had time to do an update and yesterday was a another one of those days. That storm that hit about 9:30 a.m. was something else! I knew it was coming and we were trying to get people off the dock as well as ourselves. By the time we took off running for our vehicles, the wind and rain was going sideways to everything standing up. Any way the dock came though the storm in good shape and we all finally dried out.

Flat creek is pure mud as well as James river and there is some drift coming down, nothing too large yet but if we keep getting the these heavy rains, that could change. There is a lot of what we call saw dust coming down and that's not a bad thing as the water gets dirtier the bass will move to and under those saw dust piles on the banks and flipping a jig will get some good bass. Also the lake is rising and if it gets in the bushes a person wants to work that hard too.

The bass had been biting really good on plastic's, brush hogs, creature baits and so forth. With the storms and the lighting and thunder the bass are like us in that they take cover too and that cover can be deep. Still when a lake is changing color there is some really big bass to be caught. The biggest worry is when you are motoring is to be on the look-out for the big drift logs floating on or just under the surface. Lower units don't come cheap, still this a great time to fish the banks in between storms.

So get the rain coat out or your para-sail and go fishing!

I was down there today. Water up the james wasn't to bad had a green color to it. Didn't see any floaters looked clean. Didn't go up flat but did cross the bridge and looked rough on that side. From the marina to Wooley had great color and was clear also. Hope this helps.
