Gary Lange Posted January 1, 2007 Posted January 1, 2007 Like to thank Phil for the Web Site to begin with and thank everyone that came out today for making this the success that it was. We had a good deal of great dishes and the conversation flowed easily among the members. I love these get togethers where you can share knowledge and experience with others that share a love of the outdoors and fishing. I was the Chicagoland Regional Coordinator for the Illinois Smallmouth Alliance before moving down to Missouri and I miss that part of my life just a little because I got to setup the outings for the year. I also started the Wed. Night Smallie Hunters too just to get people together and enjoying fishing and some great conversation. This was a good time and we should do it again. Maybe not so much eating and more fishing. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
Leonard Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 I to really enjoyed meeting everyone today.. and yes we should do this again next year... if not a few times again before Leonard http://www.taneycomonights.com
Danoinark Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 I have never seen so much food...and good stuff too. My hats off to all the chef's. Everything was perfect, even the weather cooperated despite the cold. It was good to put some names to faces of those that I had not met before. I agree with Leonard. This should at least be an annual event. That way I know where I will be each NYD. The fishing was good too. The trout were turned on when I hit the water about 6:45 this morning. I got to christen my little bargain basement fiberglass Eagle Claw. It was a great way to start the New Year. I want to, like we all do, thank Phil for providing the OAF members forum. Without it we would not become the fraternity that this place has afforded us. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"

Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 2, 2007 Root Admin Posted January 2, 2007 Let's make one thing clear- you guys got this together... I just joined in. It was the best attended "get-together" we've ever had at the dam- 25-30 I think. The food and the fellowship was great- thanks! There was a grill left at the pavilion- was that yours duckydoty? I can run up there tonight and get it- didn't know you left- didn't know what to do with it but I'd hate for you to lose it. The fishing was slow for me late evening. But if I'd tied on a soft hackle earlier I'd done better. There was one guy across from #2 that was killing them- at least he was getting strikes almost every cast. I missed a dz strikes fishing a green brassie #18 soft hackle below #2 and landed one small rainbow. Caught one brown against the bank below #2 on a #20 marabou olice scud (Rader's). Here are some pics of the day-
Don Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Hey Phil and gang, Was a great time. Good people, good eats, good times. Enjoyed visiting with each of you. I fished 1:30-5:00. I watched people from the pavillion all day catch alot of fish. I was finally exced to go but things were slower than expected. A full house allowed me a spot for a short time above chute 2. I picked up two stockers with a tan scud. Then things slowed down more until I finally picked up three more at the end of the stretch after 4:00.I caught them with a small whote wooly bugger with pearl sparkle braid body. I missed alot of strike while stripping that little bugger. Any advise form you stripping experts would be appreciated. Leaonard, those sawhorses were awesome. Thanks everybody.....Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Leonard Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 "Any advise form you stripping experts would be appreciated."
