I read the fourm a lot but I never have posted before. But before everyone gets in a uproar. Let's think about it with common sense. Have you ever watched a bass make a bed? He doesn't just use his tail, he will use his mouth also. He scoops out any kind of debris he deems unfit for his nesting site. Ever watched one chase down a crawdad? He will rub his jaw on the bottom on the chase up to the point of sucking him in. When you see the most broken jaws is just after they start making beds and when the bigger females start chasing crawdads to get the protein they need to recoup from laying eggs. But what is in the water that makes it that way? Bacteria! I'm sure with very little rain the last few years and less water movement in the lake to flush the lake, With the turbine down so long. One little cut or scrape could turn into a big sore, and start eating away at the flesh and bone. You wouldn't stick your cut finger into some thing that might infect it. Bass really don't have that choice. Sorry I'm rambling, but that's my two cents worth. So if you catch a six pound bass in March with a bloody tail does that mean their starting to nest? I'm sure you have all hear that one. The answer is, NO. Females full of eggs have to lay on the bottom or cover and and move their tail back and forth to stay up right. They rub their tail raw because of it.

Makes sense to me...at least more than people intentionally injuring that many fish...I could see someone doing it once...but over and over...really? Thank you for being a voice of reason...and we may be wrong...there could be an idiot who thinks he can personally reduce the bass population...

A strike indicator is just a bobber...

Yes thanks for thoughts. I just can't buy it. Most fish only ex spell efforts verse the reward this why they grow. These bass aren't destroyed in side there lip. They aren't running bait.? Since bass compete for food often in frenzy or hunting pack I'd say there would be 1000s this way for years I would also say evolution would design them to accomplish this. ? Great conversation. Though and I appreciate it Dprice

To blame the problem on a certain group of people that use the lake, would be profiling. And further more if I ever catch someone mutilating fish, I will have a come to jesus meeting and it won't be pretty

I agree..... But someone is doin it. I do not understand why lots of people are not catching these fish???? I personally don't believe someone would invest 45000 and go do this . "This is a powerful forum. "

People may not comment but they do read and look at the informations .

In the last 25 years fishermen are good freinds . If I had a boat problem. There's not one who wouldn't stop to help ! I'd bet on it !

I consider this posting no different. Let's figure it out !

No one wants to take there family fishing and reel idisfigured fish in ?

That's from a person who has a mental disorder -- or bad kids -- sickening to see that type of mutilation going on --

-- "dirt " 35 back at ya' :) Stockton is one of the most beautiful lakes in Missouri I've ever fished and is a great fishery "dirt" you need to realize you have some real intellectually ignorant, backward thinking idiots living around there just as I do around where I live --- just hoping it doesn't continue and it was from an idiot that drug his fish off from a stringer

With the information I gave to the fisheries biologist. They should be combing the area. I left the guy a message and he has not returned my call yet. This would be a serious offense to an individual. And by the words of the biologist. Who says this was intentional. And had NOT. Seen any abnormal markings from spawn. Or predatory instincts of bass after measuring and recording or 600 bass. I'd say he would be the one to know if feeding or spawn caused this.
