RiverRunner Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 I was wondering how often I should clean my fly line. I invested in Rio grand line and I want it to last as long as possible. I have been cleaning it after fishing and when I go to the park and practice. Is it effective to clean it that often?
snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Hey RR. Go to Rio's website and click on FAQ under the RIO community tab. Scroll down a little and they tell you everything you need to know about cleaning your line. SIO3.
Terry Beeson Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 RR, Depending on the line, be careful how and with what you clean the fly line. You COULD do more harm than good cleaning it that often depending on how you're cleaning it. SIO3's suggestion will give you good advice. I usually don't clean my line that often. Depends on how often I fish, but I can usually tell when I need to give it a good cleaning. snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 You should always follow the manufacturer's advice. Some lines should never be cleaned with soap and with others, soap is fine. SIO3.
Members AKflyfisher Posted January 8, 2007 Members Posted January 8, 2007 Rio suggest you clean it everyday. this is what it says on the sheet that comes with your line "A few drops of a mild soap without detergent or a even a small bar of soap and a rag is sufficient for cleaning fly line. once its cleaned apy a supper thin coating of poo goo or another 100% silicon on a cloth and pull the line through the cloth"
