Mitch f Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I've had this article for at least 10 years, and it appears to be at least 10 years older than that, so I'm guessing this was 20 years ago or so. Every time I watch Phil Lilley is his videos, he seems to be doing exactly what this article states. This was written for Walleye, but I guess the bite triggering technique is universal for many game fish. "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Old plug Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 I think Mitch its just another way of making a presentation. I can see why the sudden jerking would be good when the time was right. Sometimes it would excite a trailing fish or lurking fish into striking. I know when I am moving a worm very slowly over something. I sometimes pause then give it a small snap to cause it to look like its fleeing are whatever it is they think. I hjave caught many many bass because of that little snap. So I a. sure it would work with this method described for jigs.
kjackson Posted June 16, 2014 Posted June 16, 2014 It does work for walleyes--I tried it just after this article or a clone came out. It's surprising how vicious the strikes can be. Thanks for posting this as I'd forgotten about the technique. Now I'll have to play with it some...
