Gel coat is actually the first compound that goes into the mold when a hull/cap is formed.

Anything sprayed on over the color on a refinish job is simply a "clear coat" which is alot softer, thinner, and less "clear".

They saying in the boat building business is that if you're building a glass boat the first thing you do is paint it. For others you lay the keel. :D

Just a thought, but if a clear coat would work are you trying to revive a color? Often times a lot of elbow grease with a soft abrasive, like Meguiars or Bar Keepers friend will do wonders. follow it with hard wax.

I suspect you will have to call a fiberglass boat repair shop to get a price.

Don't know where you live so I can't say where one is.
