Nighthawk Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 Last Thursday I went to the park with my son, The Troutdoorsman, and his 2 boys. We got there after 3 p.m. and started in the c& r stream where we caught dozens of fish. We grilled supper at the playground/pavilion while 4 groundhogs ate grass in the field. After supper we headed for the springs and Rusty and I fished while the boys played in the water near the shore. We caught more fish, mainly on dries and emergers during a sparse caddis hatch. All in all it was a terrific trip. There's nothing better than family time together.
jdmidwest Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Montauk is a great place to create a little family history. I think that was one of the first places I took my daughter when she was a baby. I remember pushing her along in a stroller in a place there is no path now and catching a fish on the flyrod for her. She is 19 now and that was her choice for Father's day weekend this year and she stood in the same place on the opposite side of the river and caught several trout on a fly rod herself. It was something special for me too. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
ness Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Nice report Nighthawk. We've got a similar tradition going to Roaring River each fall with a fairly large family group. Those trips have become something we all really look forward to. John
