Members Tully Posted July 11, 2014 Members Posted July 11, 2014 Went out this morning and stopped on point 25. Saw some top water swirls so I threw a White Ice Fluke into one. Nailed a keeper K. Sat on the point and caught 13 total. The bass would push shad up to the top and then crash them. Then it would die down for a few minutes and they would regroup and push them up again. The bite died off about 8:45. Surprised to see it that late in the day.
jbooth24 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I have had some luck near the Jamesriver enterance on a bitsy jig
rps Posted July 12, 2014 Posted July 12, 2014 Owl Creek was not cleared before the lake flooded. There are trees throughout the cove right up to the mouth and beyond. The bass, and sometimes walleye, suspend in those tree tops and ambush that which swims above. I have caught them on the same bait at the same location and by trolling a bait that barely ticked the submerged tops. Something like a Norman Deep Little N or DD22 would accomplish the same barely above the trees on retrieve.
