MeatintheFreezer Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Here is my version of a fish taco with home-made "tartar sauce". We all enjoy them very well and thought I would toss it out to see what you guys thought of it. I would have posted photos, but if I would have taken the time to take pictures I wouldn't have had any left to eat! Start by making the sauce so it can rest in the fridge while you get everything else ready. Mix together the following: 1/2 cup mayo 1/2 cup plain yogurt 1 tsp dill weed 1/2 tsp cumin 1/2 tsp salt 1 tsp minced capers 1/2 tsp paprika 1 tbs sriracha (to taste) Slice some onions up thinly and cook them down in a small frying pan. Season to taste. Cut your favorite fish fillets into strips about an inch wide. Season & cook them how you wish. I have tried them grilled, baked, and fried. They work well either way, I personally like fried in cornmeal the best. shred some cabbage or use bagged cold slaw mix. Slice an avocado and you are ready to assemble. Grab a soft 8" tortilla then spread the sauce down the middle. Add in a few strips of fish, some cabbage, avocado, sauteed onions, and enjoy. Remember - If at first you DO succeed, try not to act surprised & quit while you're ahead.
Lancer09 Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 That's about the same sauce I make. pretty good. I'm a big fan of blackened grilled fish. awful tasty.
Gavin Posted July 16, 2014 Posted July 16, 2014 Sounds good. We do them on the river occasionally...one fresh fried trout fillet, tortilla, home made coleslaw..whatever else you want to toss on there.
