Ealy Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 A buddy of mine camps at Baxter on a regular basis, and would like to catch some catfish in that area. He's picked up a couple of trotlines, and plans on rigging them up with Bluegills and hotdogs. Any tips on structure this time of year? Flats, bluff ends, deep coves, gravel, chunk rock, etc? Also, do the vintage storm hotdogs hunt better on the trotlines than new redesigned Oscar Mayers?
dwiebenga Posted July 19, 2014 Posted July 19, 2014 I have alway placed my on the channel lines in wooded coves...Basin Hollow is the area I use.
merc1997 Bo Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 i would suspect that channel edges would work well for flatheads. i am sure there are others that can give you better advice. i just wanted to add a comment, and that is please mark your line with floats as required by the mdc rules. it will prevent other fisherman to not be casting where you have your line. i know that most do not because they fear others are going to be running your line. we came across one the other night that was clearly marked with floats, and it allowed us to avoid being hung up in it because it was marked. i was very appreciative that it was clearly marked so i could avoid it. bo
