J-Doc Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Yes. You just have to jump in and learn it. I've spent a year learning about sonar and have just scratched the surface. I think I have a much better handle on it now than before. But I can tell you that I'm more productive because of it. It's a tool. In order to be productive you have to learn to use the tool effectively. Not knocking anyone, just restating what many pros have said many times. For that matter, I'm trying to encourage others to learn to use what they have. Not go buy a fancy unit. Using what you have is key. When you do upgrade as I have, your tool just became a super tool. Champ188 Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 Did I miss the pics of the new boat? What did you get? Stump bumper, he won't reveal the identity of his boat coz he's skeered everyone will follow him to all the fish he catches. Now that's what I call a robust ego.
J-Doc Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Stump bumper, he won't reveal the identity of his boat coz he's skeered everyone will follow him to all the fish he catches. Now that's what I call a robust ego. Not even ego. I'm not a fish slaying machine by any means. I have had people approach me wanting information. I generally welcome meeting new forum memebers which is why I have an OAF sticker on my truck and boat. I met Yakfm while fishing and that's a guy I have a lot of respect for. I've met several other members here and I consider them friends. I welcome it. It's the lurkers that do not participate and want a free handout that gives me caution. I and others have had people ask for fishing info. Which I normally am more than willing to share. As for my fishing ego......I assure you. My boat and ability Is smaller than yours. J-Doc Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 You know what........challenge accepted. I welcome the opportunity to meet new forum members. If anyone recognizes me...........come say hi. I'll share. Nothing to hide and if someone wants some very quick down and dirty how-to on sonar, I'm more than happy to help because I know how much I learned in one fishing trip from someone who understood sonar. It change how I fish for the better. Here's my boat............come find me. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! J-Doc Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 And this is what you will more than likely see in the boat so I'm easier to determine if it's J-Doc or not...... (minus the redfish and tarpon of course) lol Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. Champ188 Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 That's a darn nice boat. And you will never regret a dime of what you spent on those electronics because you're a guy who will spend the time to learn the full capabilities of them. I understand the lurkers issue. Didn't weigh that when I made the comment about ego. My apologies. I'll admit, though, I'm guarded about what specifics I share on the TR forum, especially regarding specific areas and the nitty gritty of certain techniques. There's a certain population out there who are only interested in catching fish by hook or crook rather than putting in the effort to find them and figure them out. Enjoy the boat. It's a beauty and the name on the side guarantees that it's well built. Donna and I will be on Beaver a fair amount the next few weekends getting ready for the Everett year-end classic derby the first weekend of September. Stop and say hi if you see us and we'll do likewise.
