they do not taste good as the catfish houses.

That's because those are farmbraised and fed controlled foods like dog food and fish pellets where a lake cat is a bottom feeder and cleans the lake of waste.

That and once you've had walleye or crappie.....well thereis no comparison.

Great job. Anything in particular that you were looking for besides 30ft of water that helped in the catch?

I only fish for walleye. Maybe because a northern boy. Points next to deep water.

There is not a thing wrong with catfish unless you have walleye in the boat. Cleaning them is simple just fillet like you would a walleye. I will keep them between 2 and 4 pounds but that's my favorite eating size but a walleye comes in the boat the kittys get a instant pardon.

I think you have somewhat answered this question, but if there is anything else you might think would be helpful without giving away too much I hoped you could elaborate.

You say you target them specifically. So is it just spots your used to catching them, or is your method something that could be applied to the whole lake?

Long points, short points, narrow or wide ones? You say deep water, but do you mean river channel deep or just 60'-70' deep?

Not trying to pry out anything so feel free to not go into detail if you do not wish. I was just hoping to gain a little more insight into what your method is. When someone says "points" to me I get really confused because the whole lake is points except for coves. Then I wonder if they mean the point of the point or the side of the point. Lol.

You can apply it to the entire lake if the conditions are right. A point in Prairie Creek maybe holding fish if it has X structure and X bait and Y Temp. Temps may vary but you move up and down the point to find it, Bait may vary but again find that point near the dam and odds are it will have an eye or two.

Deep for walleye is typically between 25 to 40 feet but more times than not if you find them in 30feet at one spot they will be 30 feet at another as to points you learn from experience if they want long running points or short ones and if they are holding on them near channel edges or flats but catch one walleye and you should be able to pattern a few more.

The lake has hundreds of "points" but only a few might be productive, the one nice thing about walleye is typically if you catch one you can use that info to catch others. Electronics are very important in telling you depth and bottom structure or if bait is around. I am well know for spending time not fishing looking over an area if it is not holding the structure, bait and depth I move on to find it and when you do you will see the fish on it.

I have only fished Beaver for 7 years but have put on 2350 miles when going over 3.5 mph since apr 2010 when I got my first HDS 8. I probably have fished every point from hickory to the dam to include secondary points. It's not always on the point but up bank on either side. Everything what F&F said. The key is catching the first one and remember the depth, speed, was it the inside rod on a turn or outside. I do not use my finders first I normally just stop and fish and if no bites or clutter on the screen I move. My friend (who I lost recently) and I decided that walleyes in beaver are hear today but someplace else the next. Just keep searching. In the past it was not unusual for us to have our limits by noon. Since August of last year I have had to work harder for them, but I don't why. Couple years ago I would start at PC and by the time I reached Copper-mine I had a limit. Another thing I do is when I catch one or two and no more bites, leave the spot and go back to it later after it settles down. I always do it if I get caught in the brush piles I'm fishing. Hope this helps.
