Has anybody been out chasing stripers lately? I've wade fished the LIR for trout but I've never had my boat over there. How navigable is the river with no generation? Best ramp to use?

If your talking about a kayak you will be fine with no generation, regular motor boat, forget it. You'll have to fish the very end of the LIR with a motor boat with no generation. I dont know how far upriver you can get from Gore landing. If you had an air boat you might get further up river. Stripers are there, I've seen pictures. No shad in the river so the stripers are tearing up the trout right now. Non generation water flow sucks, it makes me wish they didnt fix the leak

I had some success last year on a very cloudy day with a big topwater bait. Poppa Dog I think. I even caught a couple of rainbows that were barely twice the size of the bait. I believe cloudy or rainy days help due to the very clear water.

I put a spoon fly, size 4, right at their noses and they wouldn't even look at it. I think it takes a big bait making a big splash to get their interest. I find the same thing at Lake Texoma.

In the deep holes you can see them cruising. I saw a few busting some bait too but by the time I could get up to them they were gone.

I wish I was close enough to just run over a couple of times a week. It is so beautiful paddling the kayak to places you know not many fishermen get to see.

I've been down wading for stripers above Gore Landing several times this summer and have only have limited success. I've missed more hook sets than anything. Rainbow colors are they way to go though, because there is like no shad in the river, also no gar. Cooler temps this summer have kept them down!

Last week however, I ran into a guy fighting this behemoth from a kayak. He got him on a rainbow colored gamechanger. He tipped the scales to 23lbs. Awesome fish. They're in there still, just gotta be there early and when its overcast!

That's what I was hoping to see. I'd be bringing my river sled over to fish the afternoon generation.

Where did you put in and take out and was it during low water are did you wait until they started generating in the afternoon. I just got a new 8 weight and want to try it out. What flies should I try? What kind of boat were you in? I plan on taking my kayak, a Ride 115.

Put in at the dam. Took out at Gore Landing. We float it in my drift boat under generation and throw big streamers on full sink lines....

NOPE, no stripes in the river! might as well go to texoma, OKflyfisher44 actually bought that fish at a market and had it in the cooler with him... punk. Fishing has actually been really good lately down there. The key is fishing it is doing so during generation. Not really floatable or worth doing on low water in my opinion.
