I put in at dawn and kayaked down the James this weekend. Caught a lot of goggle eye, some smallmouth, bass, 2 cats and a hogsucker. The two lures that were catching fish were H2Os and Savage Gear crankbaits. I caught all the ones in the pictures on a Savage Gear. The retrieve that was working was a slow retrieve- pause- slow retrieve -pause and when I paused it, they hit it hard. I has rewarded at the end of my trip, when 2 deer showed to check on me, the stealth of a kayak. Over all a great day on the river. Took a couple of pictures, posted one for RSBreth, and released them all....

Nice fish. I always do good right there by the bridge in your bass pic. Keep up the good work. Nice to hear from my fellow James river junkies!!!

I grew up on the James it's an amazing river to fish. I love taking my little cousins out on it and teaching them how to fish and live off of the land and what it means to catch and release fish instead of keeping them
