J-Doc Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I was one my way under the 12 bridge (headed south) this morning when I come off plane before the gravel bar (currently out of water) by the 12 bridge. If you're familiar with the lake, you know what I'm talking about. I ALWAYS come off plane BEFORE getting near the gravel bar as it extends from Deer Island to the bank just before 12 bridge. Here's a screenshot below that I snapped quickly showing tracks of lower units where they have drug across the gravel bar. My guess is this that these are recent and probably this year. Look on the upper left for sidescan image of the lower unit tracks. Now look at lower right for the 2 trails where I have crossed recently. The water came up as shallow as 2FT!!!! Enough that I trimmed the motor so far up that the prop was just below the surface. Sad thing is, I didnt' really see bottm so you won't see it in time. So...... Unless you want to entertain the people at the ramp and parking lot..........don't be "that guy" and run on plane all the way up to the bridge or.....get on plane after crossing under the bridge and heading north towards Prairie Creek. I have an aluminum boat that floats extra shallow. This 2ft made me nervous (obviously it can cross it easy). I have had my boat in 1ft of water and float easily. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
