Members beagle man Posted September 28, 2014 Members Posted September 28, 2014 I have real good luck this time of year slow trolling jigs in 15 to 25 ft of water off the bluffs, I just motor to a bluff, scan the area find a school or schools of fish and drop two jig rigs over the sides, on at 12 ft and one at 15 ft couple jigs to each line gives you lots of seperation and 4 different jig body colors , I move about 1.5 mph and work an area them move on, bite is usually pretty strong, and quite often, Do this on the big sac arm more than the little sac, also C C area when it gets a little colder. good luck
ten_scoach Posted September 29, 2014 Author Posted September 29, 2014 Thanks Beagle. I'm headed up this weekend. I'll post back. What weight jigs? 1/8, 1/4? Thank you again
Members clandt Posted September 29, 2014 Members Posted September 29, 2014 Well went out to Stockton for the 1st time. Very nice lake. We did get some walleyes but all to small to keep 12-14" and alot of them. Did have a big one get off at the boat but thats trolling. found out darker cranks worked the best (orng, reds) might get out one more time this fall to see if the lake can produce bigger fish in the fall. (more fall) Thanks for all the help I got.
ten_scoach Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 Headed up again this weekend. Trolled here and there. Tried to target 20 fow. Wind was tough. Came home w 2 keeper crappie. Still struggling finding fish. When the wind calms down I'll try the bluffs per beagles advice. Thanks all
Members beagle man Posted October 9, 2014 Members Posted October 9, 2014 I uses a double 1/16 oz jig combo,, sometimes when I am messing around I see a big school of shad and I just pitch and let the jig fall through the school, usually something bites before 15 feet, reel back slow and hang on.
Sac River Jim Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 id try starting out at the mouth of springfield cove and trolling up the bluff last time i was there the other day the pan fish were knocking the snot out of my spy bait while learning to fish it for bass, in a week or so i'd say CC ought to be starting to get good. theres a trough runs parallel to the gravel bar on the roadbed side ive done really good on in the fall if you didnt mind pulling in the whites till your arms feel lke they are going to fall off you should catch some good crappie in there too. if the wind ever changes where its out the north or coming in from under the bridge i pack it up and go home.
ten_scoach Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 Thanks SRJ. I'll give it a go this Sunday. I will report back to all with the report. I am sure this big front didn't help but have to go when you can.
