Hello, I plan on doing a two day trip on the current October 4 and 5th. Just was wondering where the small mouth fishing starts getting real good. I floated from cedar grove to Atkins ferry about a month or so ago only caught three small mouth-all them no bigger than 8 inches and I fished about everything. It all looked like real good fishing waters. I was also wondering how far can the jet boats make it up the river.I am wanting to do around 18 miles. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Don't let the boats keep you away. Yes you will see some. This time of year most of them will be out there to fish as well. Most of the local boaters are still courteous and give plenty of room to others fishing. As for the boaters going gigging that after dark so they probably wont affect you anyhow. Just my two cents

Not a whole lot wider than it is above Round Spring. The river doesn't start getting pretty wide until the Jacks Fork comes in at Two Rivers.
