Members porky river Posted September 16, 2014 Members Posted September 16, 2014 Hello, I plan on doing a two day trip on the current October 4 and 5th. Just was wondering where the small mouth fishing starts getting real good. I floated from cedar grove to Atkins ferry about a month or so ago only caught three small mouth-all them no bigger than 8 inches and I fished about everything. It all looked like real good fishing waters. I was also wondering how far can the jet boats make it up the river.I am wanting to do around 18 miles. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.
Gavin Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Round Spring down to Arkansas is best for bass. Your last trip was on trout water.
ozark trout fisher Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Yep. Not many smallies there, plenty of rainbows though........
Members porky river Posted September 16, 2014 Author Members Posted September 16, 2014 Thanks does the jet boats get bad below round spring this time of year?
Gavin Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Yes on the weekend, plus gigging season opened yesterday.
Members porky river Posted September 16, 2014 Author Members Posted September 16, 2014 I c thanks. I might decide to do a different river if there be alot of boat traffic I am just taking my jackson coosa. Dont really feel like fighting with boat all weekend.
Members riverman Posted September 16, 2014 Members Posted September 16, 2014 Don't let the boats keep you away. Yes you will see some. This time of year most of them will be out there to fish as well. Most of the local boaters are still courteous and give plenty of room to others fishing. As for the boaters going gigging that after dark so they probably wont affect you anyhow. Just my two cents Riverman
Members porky river Posted September 16, 2014 Author Members Posted September 16, 2014 Thanks man does the river start getting pretty wide pass round spring?
Al Agnew Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 Not a whole lot wider than it is above Round Spring. The river doesn't start getting pretty wide until the Jacks Fork comes in at Two Rivers.
Members porky river Posted September 17, 2014 Author Members Posted September 17, 2014 Ok thanks u guys for the Info much appreciate it. I think I am going to put in at Rounds springs and take out ether Jake's tail or two river. I now its a big difference in miles I think one 12 and the other 18. Plan on fishing pretty hard.
