Tanderson15 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Today I fished with RPS. He drove hundreds of miles to take some walleye home. 7 + hours of fishing and not one walleye only a few catfish. We also did not mark a lot of fish but when we did no bite. But it was a fun day fishing with RPS hope to do it again soon. We did catch each other a couple of time on my sharp turns, that was about the only excitement in the boat. BB from 25 to 35+ water.
J-Doc Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 There is something funny going on in the lake. It's got to be turnover. The fish just aren't biting well at all. Need marine repair? rps Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I am there at the Prairie Creek ramp at daybreak when tanderson pulls up. 18 foot Triton with a Mercury main motor and kicker and stainless steel props. I look inside and the console and trolling motor both have two large HD Lowrance units each. When I get in the boat, the whole thing looks like it has been wiped with diapers and lambskin its entire life. He had separate bait buckets with washed crawlers for each of us. I was thinking, "oh man, this makes me look so hillbilly." We fished hard 6 AM to 330 PM and saw lots of the lake. I had a great time. I figure, if he can't find walleye on Beaver and we blank, maybe it was a tough day.
J-Doc Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Lol! Yep. I admire a guy who takes care of his gear. Same way here. I make an outing and then spend a couple hours cleaning, wiping boat down, retying lines, etc. Might as well be a tournament angler. Lol Yep, if he zeroed, everyone would. That Triton is a nice rig. Tanderson15 Posted September 21, 2014 Author Posted September 21, 2014 I got something out of it today. He left a spinner in the bait cooler and he's not getting it back.
J-Doc Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Lol!!! Yeah his spinners are becoming a bit famous around this area. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. bfishn Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 ... I was thinking, "oh man, this makes me look so hillbilly." ... Not to worry, us real hillbillys may not own many slick rigs, but we don't mind being seen in one. :-) Too bad your recent taste of Beaver 'eyes wasn't up to par, on most days it's a far better bet for a good mess of fish than TR these days. Probably not as good a bet for a 10+, but those days are on the horizon. I can't dance like I used to.
rps Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 I am very happy with my rig and pleased it sits in a slip ready to go on a moments notice. I like the fact that everything works when I ask. Is it clean and polished? No. I do not spend that time. Nor do I wash crawlers. Terry is on top of that.I admire that.
J-Doc Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 How DOES some wash a crawler anyway? Tiny bathtub and tiny rubber ducky? Lol And what is the point if I may ask? Need marine repair? bfishn Posted September 21, 2014 Posted September 21, 2014 Crawlers in ice water swell up and toughen up. Go easy on the chlorine. I can't dance like I used to.
