Bitethis Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Anyone finding whites anywhere? I get the occassional 10" straggler...but I am looking for some considerable success. Also, any luck with the black bass in lower arms of the lake? Thinking of hitting this weekend and have been hearing a lot of Success stories.
Dutch Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I went last fall several times and never caught many. I fished for them this spring with very limited success. I haven't seen any surfacing this summer. That lake doesn't have the population that it used to.

Not sure I can buy that, as I consistently have success every spring (including this spring) and fall at stockton. It is just a matter of finding them. For example, last fall at this time of year, they were all the way back up in the river arms and I caught so many my arms hurt. I am not a biologist, nor do I work for the corps or Conservation; I would just have a really hard time believing that the white population has declined so much that there are not any to catch.
Hunter91 Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I was on the flats at Mutton a few weeks ago with 3 people in my boat. We caught over 75. They were schooling all over the flats. Very exciting!! Granted that's the first time this year I have found them.
Dutch Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 Well maybe I am losing my touch. There are at least 20 places where I have caught them in the fall and they haven't produced in several years.

frying eyes Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 People have been catching them all summer long at masters island in the evening. I've been there 3 times and caught a lot every time. Shallow side of the drop off, starts about 45mins before dark. A lot of fun with kids!

I was of course fishing a bass tournament a week ago and the flats just N of the island at Masters came alive with schooling whites. They were driving those shad nearly to the bank. Funny because a boat with trollers went between me and the bank about 10 minutes before they came up in that area.
Bitethis Posted September 29, 2014 Author Posted September 29, 2014 Good to know, thanks guys. Gonna go check em out!
