Why doesn't a person just use a spinning rig instead of a bait caster to shoot docks? You wouldn't have to worry about backlash and for the most part most folks around here already do it when their crappie fishing. I don't know, I haven't bass fished in 15 years but I think I'm gonna get back into it next year. They got this little thing called the Big Bass Bash that sounds pretty fun:) Just my two cents.

You could do that but your chances of getting a keeper fish out of those places are slim

All right, now I know. I'm gonna have to look up some youtube videos and see what the differences are. Thanks for the info fellers.

Any more most of my skipping is done with a roll cast. Not quite as precise but good distance.

It definitely takes quality baitcasting gear and a lot of practice.... A LOT!!!

That's awesome... Did you fish this years tournament as well? If so how'd you end up doing?

MOsmallie, no I didn't fish that tournament this year. I don't plan on fishing the Pro/Am formats any more. To me, is just more fun fishing with a friend. I would suggest that if you don't have a boat and still want to fish tournaments that the Pro/Am format is a great way to learn lakes and meet some great people.
