Lifes2Short Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 Went out of R.B., on the water by 7:15. Ran up into the timber and started catching fish on the spinnerbait. It was hit & miss all morning until I finally figured out where they were. The water was up and in the buck-brush so that was where I found most of the fish. I also caught some on the shakey-head on the bluff ends. Ended up catching roughly 25 with the best 5 going maybe 12 lbs. It was a very windy day (N.W. 15 to 20), bluebird skies, high of 65, water temps of 65 to 68. The best clue I can tell you is fish shallow, very shallow, windy banks! I also talked with another guy who was doing the same thing but was fishing main lake pockets in the mid-lake area.
hknfsh Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 If you put in at RB....what timber area was possibly nearby without running clear to the other ends of the lake. ? Just curious.
Dutch Posted October 6, 2014 Posted October 6, 2014 If you put in at RB....what timber area was possibly nearby without running clear to the other ends of the lake. ? Just curious. It is just a jump to timber in Son's or Greezer creeks and not far up the Sac to timber and also in Birch's Branch.
Members sixstring531 Posted October 6, 2014 Members Posted October 6, 2014 Thanks for the report. We're heading out on Wednesday and will probably do the same pattern.
Lifes2Short Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 I didn't catch any eyes but the guy I talked to on the ramp said he had caught 4 walleye while bass fishing, 2 of which kept.
Members Lead Head Posted October 6, 2014 Members Posted October 6, 2014 Do you mean the RB boat Ramp on RT RB otherwise known as Stockton City Ramp or are you using the initials RB for Roark Bluff. I could see how hknfsh saw the nearest timber as being at the far end of the lake from RT RB unless you go to Price Branch in the Little Sac? Sounds like you did well where ever you went.
Members Brandon Knight Posted October 7, 2014 Members Posted October 7, 2014 Pretty much the same pattern i was on Sunday the 5th. I didn't get that many keepers though. I tried Googer? creek (the one right across the lake from Mutton Creek) first with no luck on topwater baits, Then ran to Greaser creek and caught several shorts on the spinnerbait watched a huge one jump right in front of the boat but couldn't get him caught, After I thoroughly fished Greaser I hit some coves over by chicken rock and caught a few more dinks. By then the wind had me beat around 2 so I headed back to the ramp.
Lifes2Short Posted October 7, 2014 Author Posted October 7, 2014 Out of the 25 caught I think only 7 were keepers. And yes, RB = Roark Bluff. The rain later this week should really get them turned on!!
