Gas On The Rock In Fall/winter

Quick question... my boat is at Holiday Island and I know they are closed for the season. Do any of the other marinas like Big M or Eagle Rock, open on the weekend for gas?

eagle rock might, but am not really for sure. i really think that there is not anyone open.

State Park Marina on the dam end of the lake does but they recommend a call ahead so they can meet you by the pumps. Long long boat ride for Ken....

Do what I do and just about everyone in my community dock. Buy enough 5 gallon gas cans a hose and your ready to go.

I even believe Baxter is closed this Winter. I most always used to could get a snack there or a micro sandwich anytime. Mike Blair that does the fishing reports for the KC star calls them if he cannot get me and they told him they were going to close till late March this year.

Last Winter, Hide Away Marina at Point 11 on the James will take a credit card with a limit of $125. I have not been up there yet this year because I just got back here yesterday. I will run up there this weekend and follow up if I am wrong. I think you can gas up there.

Dropped the Triton in this morning with my son in law. Watched the Bears get a lucky win and headed up to Hide Away Marina for gas. O was right, you can gas up with a credit card there. Fished a little bit and caught one on a jig. Daughter and Son in Law threw crank baits with no luck.

Speaking from experience - NEVER, EVER, assume that gas is available off season. It's not fun to find out the hard way. Just because it's marked on a map, or you filled up there last week, it doesn't mean the place will be open when you need it the most.

Phone first, or better yet, if it's an option, don't leave the dock without more than enough petro to get you through the day.
