does anyone think Nike might be "paying" Oregon players on the slide? If you were a top100 recruit would you go to Oregon?

Oregon's recruiting isn't actually that great when you compare them to other powers like Alabama, Florida State, etc. Their 2014 class was only #26 , and that's fairly typical. As much as I don't really like the Ducks, they are actually overachieving by a ton giving their supposed "talent" level.

Shows how useless recruiting ranks can be if you have a good coaching staff that can evaluate talent and get the most out of it.

I think Mizzou will have a tough time with Bama, but 14 points seems like an awful lot. I guess Bama gets props because they win. They win pretty, and they win ugly, but they win. Mizzou did a great job of doing what it needed to in order to win games this year. Bama has mastered that.

If I were a Mizzou fan, I'd be more worried about the officiating at the SECCG. Call me paranoid, but I've seen it over and over - the league protects the team with a chance to go on and do something better. I tend to gripe about officiating before the game and not after because every losing team can point to bad calls, but I really felt that way on Friday - the fumble that was ruled incomplete, the fumble recovery by a guy laying on the ground that was ruled a recovery, then overturned on what should have been "indisputable evidence", the blatant hold of a lineman who was about to kill Mauk right before he completed his longest pass of the game. That kind of stuff just makes me paranoid. No doubt it was still our game to win and we choked, but that kind of stuff sure didn't help it sit well with me.

So I wouldn't hope for any close calls at the SECCG. It may be like I felt watching Arkansas play Florida a few years ago. That was sickening.

I'll probably be pulling for Mizzou. I hate Bama with every ounce of my being. I don't really have a reason to hate Mizzou. So I guess that makes me a Tiger for the weekend.

With you all the way on Official, They do protect the top end schools, there was calls in the Bama AU game I just shook my head at and several Arkansas games as well. I only see one way to stop it and that is Replay on all penalties and that I doubt will happen but it might more and more teams are bringing it up.

I will be routing for Bama simply because I want an SEC School to smack the hell out of Florida and Bama will treat them worse than they did ND. They are on a mission this year after last years embarrassment. We all hate Satan Saban, but the man is a coaches coach and he is looking to redeem himself and his team and I really hate FL State with a passion. Now if FL loses this weekend I would like to see MO knock Bama out and see a great Playoff.

I would be happy to see

TCU

Baylor

Arizona

Ohio State

Those 4 have earned it more than Oregon and Florida. Though Ohio my heart has to go out to for the injuries and other. hat is a team who has shown true heart.

I love reading all the excuses of why a team lost to Mizzou, never that Mizzou beat a team.

Yep Mizzou was the better team and deserved the win. Looking forward to seeing them play (and hopefully beat) Alabama.

There better not be 2 Big 12 teams in the final 4 considering they don't have to play a conference championship game.

There were a couple questionable calls in the Mizzou/Arkansas game. I think the fumble recovery at the end was the right call, but overturning Maty's fumble to an incomplete pass in the first half was probably the wrong decision. I would have been fine with that call if it had happened on the field, but it's tough to say it as indisputable. I took it gladly, but I remember thinking at the time, "Man, I bet Arkansas fans are gonna be pissed about that one."

But the last thing the SEC would want to do would be favoring Missouri. A Georgia/Alabama title game would have brought in much higher ratings and higher prestige than Mizzou/Alabama. That iffy call was just an example of a call you sometimes get when you're at home, and it probably goes the other way if we're in Fayetteville.

At the end of the day, I know Alabama will get a few more calls than us in Atlanta. That's the benefit of the doubt you get when you've been the king of college football for what sometimes seems like an eternity. And this will basically be a road game for Missouri, given the nature of 'bama's fan base and the proximity to Atlanta. So they will just have to expect that and find a way to win anyway.

Mauk had a hangnail on his throwing hand, the o-line all played with a turkey hangover, and Sasser had a zit. By golly... we still won the game!

Our rivalry with the Jayhawks may be on hold for now, but based on comments by you Hog fans here, we just might actually have a new rivalry brewing with arKANSAS. :secret-laugh:
