Gavin Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Saw a bunch of Survey stakes in the woods below campground loop 4 this weekend. Is the park going to build more campsites?
Gavin Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 Had the fam along so limited fishing. Brown Trout numbers seemed to be down. Rainbow all over the place. Fished for 6 hours on Friday. Went up from Tan Vat at Dawn. Cabbage patch up there. 3 bows in the 15-17" range and a 19" brown, plus a few small bows. Three guys pulled In to Tan Vat as I was rigging and went down I guess. Did not see them again. Back to camp for a cup of coffee at 9am and back to river. Drove to Baptist and saw a canoe trailer coming up the hill. 2 boats at the access, no fishing gear in the boats or anglers but I went to Parker instead. More small rainbows and a 21" brown. Nice day but the lack of small browns is a concern. Only 3 for the day.
Gavin Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 Emailed a friend on the state park board. More camping sites are planned. Don't like the idea at all.
jdmidwest Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Could have something to do with the wastewater treatment in that end of the park. EPA and DNR is cracking down on open lagoon systems. They may be planning an upgrade of the system. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson
awhuber Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Yep. New loop with full hook ups. We have needed this for a while. I have talked with a few private campground owners and they arent real happy.
Gene K Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Was that you in the Jeep Liberty as I was leaving parker ford to go back up the hill?
Members Muddler4 Posted December 2, 2014 Members Posted December 2, 2014 Yep. New loop with full hook ups. We have needed this for a while. I have talked with a few private campground owners and they arent real happy. Aside from the unfortunately closed Eagle, and Pinecrest, what are the other private campgrounds in the immediate area for tent camping? Especially for early Spring and late Fall. Outside of winter I'm not interested in the park environment, way too crowded for me. Liked Eagle a lot. Wish someone would buy it and re-open.
Gavin Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 Not me, I would have said Hi. Traded the Jeep in on an pickup awhile ago.
Gavin Posted December 3, 2014 Author Posted December 3, 2014 Ozark Mountain Ranch is closed too. I'm not aware of any private CG's near Montauk.
Gene K Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 ...what are the other private campgrounds in the immediate area for tent camping? There is new ownership at Pinecrest just north of Parker (CR 6520) and they have been doing a lot of work on it. Map - https://goo.gl/maps/TKDqo
