Son-law went to Aldrige Friday the 12th and caught a limit of crappie in about 2 hours. He was fishing in 15ft of water over a brush pile with gigs.

Went out Saturday and also had success with the brush pile jig bite. Fished deeper piles in 32-42' near the main lake channel. We ended up with a couple dozen keeper and at least that many shorts.

Tried the channel drop bite and didn't do much. We did scope out a few bigger schools of shad in the mouths of large coves and caught a few crappie that were in chase mode. Water temps were 43-46 degrees, so the big time shad ball bite isn't far off!

Was down at Stockton Friday and Saturday with the wife, didnt have much luck on catching crappie or walleye. Had a guy at the RB ramp Friday tell me that he got some minnows at Mutton Creek Marina

. Got up Saturday morning and headed to Mutton to get some minnows, to help me with my success rate :) Got all the way down there and that place was shut up and looked like they hadnt been open in a while !! Dont know why somebody would tell me that, surely he wasnt trying to lead me astray!!

We usually buy our minnows from The Trading Post in Greenfield. (Corner of 160 and H). They were out of crappie minnows last Saturday. They did however have plenty of the medium sized, but I have never have had much luck with the larger sized ones during the colder months. I hear that Son Sac Marine by Southwinds Motel off H may have some, but I have never been there. Might keep a good variety of micro jigs with extra light line and sensitive equipment on board as I am sure you probably do.

Boy there was some nice looking boats on the lake last Saturday! Despite the overcast, you guys had them polished up and they were gleaming!

There are also stores at the intersections of (Hwy 123 and 215) and (Hwy 215 and Y). You should be able to get yours there except the one at Y and 215 is closed on Tuesdays. As for Son Sac, I don't now if Miriam and Bill have minnows but they may.

You nailed it there Nitro2014. I will fish with as light of line and rod as the wind allows. Ideally, that's 4 pound fluorocarbon and an ultralight rod with two 1/16 or 1/8 oz. jigs about a foot apart. There are days though that a #7 Jiggin Rap on a heavier rod is about the only way you can keep anything down in the strike zone.
