Dewayne French Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 I use 7' 11" Jadewood from Denali Rods (Locally Mt. Home Ark) 65lb braid (I like to get them back when I get hung up) Abu Gacia Big Spool Low Profile reel I mine are the STX's I use local Rigs by Under Bite custom tackle out of Yellville, Ark these are awesome rigs - They also have a Missouri version for the three hook legality issue Locally at Denali's outdoorzmen shop and online Not much else other than it is a tool that can be used to catch a certain group of fish it is not a catch all that swims type of bait. You can use some smaller versions, smaller jig heads, and smaller swimming baits, but if your going to sling the RIG all day you better prepare with the tackle accordingly. People use lighter braid and even Floro when the bite gets (weird) but for the most part you had better gear up.
Members james Posted December 23, 2014 Members Posted December 23, 2014 I've really been liking the st.Croix premier series 7' H model PS70HF,$159 I think, its got a long handle so you can get some leverage in your cast and its pretty stout, I had some nice hybrids test it out for me this fall and it worked great, and I paired it with a shimano Sedona 4000FD, its got a large arbor, holds lots of line, good drag, no problems with it yet. I think I paid $60 for it at BP. I also use the MH weight in the same series rod and its works fine to, i just prefer the heavy model due to the fact that most bodies of water that i fish contain populations stripers or hybrids or both. Hope that helps.
Sac River Jim Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 i help make and throw whats called the Missouri Flurry bottom walking rig. 5 arms 4 blades alumni lite head the top two and middle arms are rigged hot while the bottom two arms have cone sinkers on them. you can drag it on the bottom or swim it through submerged timber and its pretty much snag proof. the sinkers will hang in the crack of a rock tho. i only have lost one this past summer and i threw it alot in timber. I havent tried it yet because i want to make up some 3/16th wobble heads in stead of using 1/4oz but guys are rigging t rig style on a wobble head instead of a jig head and having good success not hanging it up in timber. i using a team lews 7'2'' heavy extra fast micro guide rod and a lews super duty 5.4:1 reel with 20lb mc coy co polymer line with the bottom walking rig. I'm still in the market for a standard Arig rod in atleast 7'6'' to 7'9'' and ive got a BB1 in 5'4:1 to put on it. i'm considering a 7'6'' mh Razr rod that Rick La Point sells.
