Ok I have fished above the Park and caught Goggle Eye, have fished at the Park caught Redhorse Suckers, just below the Park caught Goggle Eye, fished well down the river caught Redhorse Suckers, Crappie, Bass and Catfish.

Usually I go by the Park and Barclay just fishing for Trout. I'm wanting to set on the Bank by the Park catch a variety of fish. Thinking just bait up with worms should catch Goggle Eye and Redhorse Suckers and yes I know a few Trout.

Thoughts? Figure I live next to the river, not having gas money all the time to drive to the Lake might as well enjoy.

You'll have to be outside the boundry to be legal. I would look for deep water. Is the hole at Riverfront still there?

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Yes Riverfront hole is still there but now you can fish right where the spring comes into the river. Yes I know I was surprised when I seen Guys fishing there during Catch and Release. Talked with Guys at the Hatchery and they said it had been legal last couple years. Use to be Park to middle of the river.

Have fished by Ft.Niangua.

Well that's a change worthy of a complaint. That gives the wintering smallmouth no protection. I don't understand the MDC sometimes, fishing is suppose to be a sport and not an easy harvest.

Still can't legally keep them in Winter. But might lose few swallowing Bait too deep.

Small mouth season closed end of February to 4th Saturday in May for spawning . They run pretty far up the spring in December so they usually don't get disturbed until spawning is over. I've caught them at the whistle bridge in Bennett several times.
