Members Arkansas Kayak Angler Posted December 24, 2014 Members Posted December 24, 2014 Heading out in the kayak new years day looking for stripers, anyone have them located? Thanks in advance Jeff Malott Wilderness Systems Fishing Pro Staff www.yakfisharkansas.com www.arkansaskayakanglers.com
Sore Thumbs Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Prairie Creek would be a great place to start.
YAKFM Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Check out the fishing reports for the past two weeks and the thread titled "The Current Hot Bite". As Sore Thumbs indicated, start out at PC and work your way up river.
Members Coach CaL Posted December 25, 2014 Members Posted December 25, 2014 Jeff there is going to be a group of us heading on new years day. The Okies are coming over.
J-Doc Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Coach, be advised that there will be a 200+ bass tourney new years day. And they will all be on the move desparately trying to find bass so lots pentax my around and wake creation. Possibly 250+ this year.... Launching out of Prairie Creek. The annual Polar Bear tournament. Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
Members Coach CaL Posted December 25, 2014 Members Posted December 25, 2014 YIKES. . Thanks J-Doc. . We might need to re think our plans. . That does not sound fun
J-Doc Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 My guess would be Swepco as an alternative. Most of the tournament guys will be on Beaver so traffic on Swepco would be far far less. Or I would hope it would anyway. But that lake can get super windy so it's harder in a kayak on windy days. Members Coach CaL Posted December 25, 2014 Members Posted December 25, 2014 Thats a good idea. We had a kayak tournament there for the NWA children center a couple of weeks ago. We had 50+ kayaks sign up. It's a fun little lake but it does get HAMMERED this time of year, like you said with most of the tourney guys going to beaver it might be the ticket.
Sore Thumbs Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 I don't think there will be more than 65 boats in that tourney.
Feathers and Fins Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 They are on the move I would start looking from Horseshoe bend to point 12. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
