gramps50 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Anybody fish Arnold city park? Don't think its a MDC stocked lake and I'm guessing that its fish population is from when the meramec floods. I have seen people fishing there, can't say I've seen them catching anything.
Haris122 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 That's the one by Lemay Ferry/Jeffco and the Meramec? I thought they had a plaque there that mentions the actual lake/pond, was stocked by the MDC, but there's also a boat ramp on the Meramec itself, by the bridge. I never fished the actual park, so I can't say much on it. And I only had a little luck with gar mainly at the boat ramp on the river too.
Members cart7 Posted January 25, 2015 Members Posted January 25, 2015 They stock the thing with catfish for their Arnold days fishing derby in September. Otherwise the lake only see's new fish when the river floods. I've fished it before. Caught a few small bass out of it. I don't remember if they ever dredged the lake or not, it's been badly silting in over the years. I know they had to dig out around the fountain in the middle because when the lake level dropped just a little it started sucking in mud. Personally, I wouldn't waste my time fishing it.
Members JRD Posted January 27, 2015 Members Posted January 27, 2015 Grew up in Arnold and only ever caught a couple small bass and some catfish out of it. The Meramec is a better option or go down to Simpson Lake in Fenton. Also used to wade fish Joachim creek in Hillsboro but haven't done that in years. Joe
