troutchaser Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 There's been some interest in this, so I did some checking for everyone. Caveat: This is all subject to Phil's approval, of course. I called Embroid Me here in Springfield, and here is what they said: The setup fee is $90.00 to get the logo into the format they need. The hats range in price from $6.50 to $10.00. The unstructured pigment dyed ( not stiff in the front, all floppy) is about $8.00. Adding a name in the back is an extra $2.00. They would also set up an online store to allow all of you "remote" members to order, as well - free of charge. If Phil wanted to run these orders through his business, he could add to the price to cover costs via their website, as well. Whew! This is too much like homework. I'm getting back to work, so I can relax. Paul Rone
Terry Beeson Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 I know they have convert the logo into a *.jef, *.sew, or other format their machines will read, but $90 sounds a bit steep. The rest of the pricing is pretty much in line... Mikey Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Down here in Ft. Smith a digitizing fee is typically $65...so yra 90 is high. Also there are dozens of places online that can digitize images... Terry Beeson Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Digitizing is only part of it. The conversion is to tell the machine what stich, what color, where to stitch, what size, and set the coordinates for these stitches. $65 does sound better for the set up price, though. Kansas Fly Fisher Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 $65 does seem a better set-up fee, but I don't think $90 is too out there. Especially if we can order directly from them on-line. Just my 0.02. Thanks for the leg work Troutchaser! John Born to Fish, Forced to Work KSMEDIC.COM
Danoinark Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 The ones we did for another FF forum costs 10 bucks per hat no minimum order. That included everything. We did use a stock design along with the name of the forum. That might have cut some costs. Not sure about it though. Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 18, 2007 Root Admin Posted January 18, 2007 OK- I'll have Lisa call our people in the hat business tomorrow and see what we can come up with. Do you like the logo we have now? We can always do another one later. Our hats run about $6.50-7.00 plus setup charges which is ???? I don't know. I think you'll pay about $11-12 with shipping when it's all said and done. If you've seen our hats, they are pretty classy.
Quillback Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 If I can get one that fits my big head, I'd be a buyer.
Mikey Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Any chance getting a pic of what the hat you're talking about looks like, Phil? Personally I'd spend the extra to get one fitted or distressed/worn. But then again I'm juszt a kid and what do I know... Mikey Each time I buy a new fly............ My wife gives me the same look........ I give her when she buys another purse... ..............................
