Priceless!

Hmmm. Maybe I'll switch to little jigs and go downstream.

I was wrong. Been using the wrong lure in the wrong area.

Who knew?

Uh sir, the question posed was specifically about jig fishing on the White at Buffalo City. Everybody knows you fished big jerk baits. You caught a couple of really nice fish lately. Congratulations, again.

After those monsters you posted, I wouldn't change either, awesome fish!!

There's no such thing, as a bad day fishing!

Richline,

My family owned a cabin at Buffalo City for about 15 years. (For those familiar, it was the old Buffalo City store that sat in the round-a-bout just before you cross the tracks to go down to the White Buffalo and the ramp) The fishing there is fantastic. I guided many a group out of there. I suggest, if you can make it down, go just down river from the ramp where you get to the rock pile that sticks way out from the bank just below white buffalo resort. To the far right (facing downstream) is where the Buffalo river comes in. Stick to the left and run down that shoal. There is a small dock on the left that used to be Riley's resort (I say "used to" because I don't know if they are still there). Fish that stretch, which is only maybe 75 yards or so, down to where the river gets very shallow again. Stick to the right hand bank in the boat and cast toward the other bank. The river is pretty narrow there. There are great fish down there, especially in the choppy water.

Sorry for spilling the beans on a spot, gentlemen!

Richline...I don't want to highjack your thread by any means. But I thought you should know, I fished Buffalo City this weekend and it was HOT. Including this 27" rainbow in the 75 yard stretch I described above.

Great fish Clay. I have no knowledge of Buffalo City and might keep my mouth shut.

Tierrierman is incorrect. I am definitely not a "sir."

Clay, thanks for the info! I'll be taking my boat and will try that stretch for sure! That's a great fish and I would love to catch one or two like it! We've gone down there for the past few years and love it. Thanks again!

One more question/statement. I've been reading about zigjigs and they look awesome. I tie all of my own for Taney, and I want to know where down there I can buy them. I want to support a business like that and also want to know which are the "best" colors/weight. Thanks! Also on a side note, thank you guys for being so helpful. On the Table Rock forum you get beat up and made to feel like an idiot for asking questions!

Richline,

The ZigJigs are great. I fish some of them. I primarily fish PJs Finesse Baits jigs, mainly because the owner is a friend and pastor of our church and they do a lot of philanthropic work with the funds from the company but both are very good and both will catch fish.

The colors that I would make sure I had in the box are:

Black

White

Sculpin

Olive

Peach/Olive

Brown/Orange

Their are a wide variety of other color combos, but I almost strictly fish these and almost always start with just straight black unless there is a shad kill and I use white.

In regard to size, you want to match water depth and speed of the flow. The size I use most of the time is a 1/16oz, with 3/32 being a close second. 1/8oz is reserved for 6+ units of water and 1/32 is mostly used for minimum flow in shallow areas. At minimum flow, most places you can still get by with a 1/16oz.

Hope this helps and make sure you let us know how you do!
